I ordered the Vindo soundproof curtain for our rental apartment living-room window because ordinary curtains were doing almost nothing for the noise coming through the glass. Outside noise is still faintly there, but it is controlled enough that sleeping and working are much easier. The biggest change is not that the outside world disappears completely, but that the sharp, intrusive part of traffic and voices is reduced enough that the room no longer feels constantly exposed to the street. One thing the product made clear is that the curtain mainly addresses the window path; walls, gaps, doors and ventilation can still carry sound separately. In our room the window was clearly the weak point, so treating it made a very large difference.
