Acoustic Treatment
Control How Sound
Behaves Inside the Room
Behaves Inside the Room
Acoustic treatment stops echo, flutter and unwanted reflections from colouring your recordings. It is not soundproofing, but it is what makes a room sound professional.
Coverage: 30% to 80% of wall area. Start at 30% for a natural, controlled room. Go up to 80% for a drier, studio-grade sound. Do not over-treat or the room will sound unnatural.
Target primary reflection points first. These are the spots on the side walls and ceiling where sound bounces directly from your speakers to your ears. Use a mirror to locate them.
Panel height: 3.5 feet from ground. Mount panels centred at speaker level. This is where mid and high-frequency reflections are strongest and where treatment has the most impact on your mix.
Bass traps in all four corners. Low frequencies build up in corners regardless of room size. Place bass trap foam from floor level up to at least mid height in every corner.

Getting In or Out
Soundproofing uses mass and absorption to block airborne noise from travelling through walls, floors and ceilings. It requires 100% coverage to be effective.
Layer 1: SoundBlanket MLV 4mm. Mass Loaded Vinyl is the primary noise barrier. At 4mm it handles sounds up to 120dB. Must cover 100% of all 4 walls with no gaps or overlaps. Any gap in the barrier reduces isolation dramatically.
Layer 2: BassBloc 40mm. Sits on top of the MLV. Absorbs low-frequency bass vibrations the MLV alone cannot block. NRC 1.00. Must also cover 100% of the wall. This is what stops bass and kick drum from bleeding to adjacent rooms.
Layer 3: Acoustic Finish Panel. Covers the BassBloc completely. Protects the layers, controls internal echo and gives the wall its final appearance. Must cover 100%. Any exposed MLV or BassBloc is both visually unfinished and acoustically incomplete.
Seal doors and windows. The weakest point in any studio is always the door gap and window. Use Bottom Door Seal + EPDM perimeter tape and a Soundproof Curtain 4500 GSM on all windows.

Good quality products. The foam is dense and the MLV is heavy as expected. My only comment is the packaging could be better for long transit. The acoustic result is excellent.

Recording Studio & Music Room Acoustics FAQ
Soundproofing stops sound from travelling in or out of the studio. It uses SoundBlanket MLV (mass barrier) and BassBloc (absorber) on walls, and seals on doors and windows. Acoustic treatment controls how sound behaves inside the room using foam panels, diffusers and bass traps. Both are needed for a professional recording studio.
For a home studio, use SoundBlanket MLV 4mm + BassBloc 40mm on all 4 walls, plus EPDM door tape and a bottom door seal. This combination significantly reduces both airborne and impact noise. A soundproof curtain on the window adds further isolation. The heavier the MLV and BassBloc, the greater the isolation.
Flutter echo between parallel walls is one of the most common studio problems. Treat at least 50% of side wall area with acoustic foam (Pyramid, Galaxy or Turbo). Add Wooden Diffusers on the rear wall. Place Mega Bass Traps in all four corners at floor level. This eliminates flutter echo and controls the room’s decay time.
Yes. Bass frequencies build up in corners and create an uneven frequency response that makes mixing difficult. Mega Bass Trap Foam in all four corners at floor level is the minimum. For advanced treatment, Wooden Bass Trap Diffusers floor-to-ceiling in all corners combined with BassBloc 40mm on walls gives the best low-frequency control.
Yes. MLV and BassBloc can be mounted on a timber frame without touching the existing walls. Acoustic foam panels go on top as the finish layer. EPDM tape seals door frames and a bottom door seal closes the floor gap. This creates a functional vocal booth without structural changes or permits.
Standard products dispatch in 1–3 business days and arrive in 3–7 days across India. Custom-sized MLV and panels take 5–10 business days. International deliveries via Aramex and DHL. No minimum order value.
