Product Overview

Low Frequency Absorption
+ Vibration Control

BassBloc® is a polyurethane-based sound absorber that isolates low frequency sound transmission from walls, ceilings, and floors. Manufactured in high density to control impact-based sounds, amplified noise, and unwanted sound waves across different frequencies.

BassBloc® is composed of super high density closed and open cell polyurethane foam compressed and bonded with resin binder — making it the only material that simultaneously traps and absorbs sound during its conversion from kinetic to heat energy. This open + closed cell combination makes BassBloc® absorb bass frequencies up to 10× more effectively than mineral wool.

Key Benefits

FAQs

BassBloc® in Amsterdam — Common Questions

What is BassBloc® and how is it different from normal acoustic foam?+
BassBloc® is a polyurethane bass absorber made from a combination of open and closed cell acoustic foam compressed under high density and bonded with resin binder. Unlike standard acoustic foam which absorbs only mid-to-high frequencies, BassBloc® absorbs bass and low frequency sounds up to 10× more effectively. The open cell component traps sound while the closed cell component reflects it back into the material — converting it to heat energy. This makes BassBloc® the only material that simultaneously traps and absorbs sound, particularly bass frequencies below 250Hz that standard foam panels cannot control.
What thickness of BassBloc® should I use for walls in Amsterdam?+
Thickness selection depends on your target STC. For 30 dB (basic soundproofing, e.g. home offices): 50–75mm BassBloc® with plywood. For 50 dB (recording studios, home theatres, hotels): 75mm BassBloc® combined with 5mm SoundBlanket® MLV behind a brick wall. For 60–70 dB (professional recording studios, cinema, nightclub plant rooms): 100mm BassBloc® with 8mm MLV behind a solid brick or concrete wall. As a rule: thicker BassBloc® + heavier MLV = higher STC. The M.A.A.C. tool on our website calculates the exact specification for your Amsterdam space.
Can BassBloc® be used on ceilings in Amsterdam's high-rise buildings?+
Yes. BassBloc® is used extensively in suspended ceiling systems in Amsterdam's residential towers, hotels, and office buildings. Standard 600×600×25mm BassBloc® tiles sit above standard T-bar suspended ceiling grids. The tiles absorb airborne and impact sound passing through the concrete slab above. Achieving 63 dB ceiling STC requires 8mm MLV + 100mm BassBloc® + gypsum false ceiling. BassBloc® sticks to concrete slab surfaces with spray adhesive, or can sit freely in suspended ceiling cavities with adjustable spring clips for vibration decoupling.
Is BassBloc® safe to use indoors in Amsterdam's climate?+
Yes. BassBloc® is entirely safe for indoor use in Amsterdam's climate. It is non-carcinogenic, free from asbestos, and emits no detectable odour — making it safe for residential, hospitality, healthcare, and educational applications. It does not promote fungi growth, which is particularly important in Amsterdam's humidity-sensitive building environments. Service temperature is up to 80°C — well within the range of Amsterdam's indoor environments even in summer. Corrosiveness to steel is zero, meaning it can be used freely within steel-frame construction common in Amsterdam's towers.
How is BassBloc® installed — can it be DIY or does it need professionals?+
BassBloc® can be installed by carpenters, contractors, or technically competent DIY users. It adheres to any surface using spray adhesive or SR adhesive — no specialist tools required. For wall systems, it is inserted as infill between steel keel framing and covered with a finish panel. For ceiling systems, 600×600mm tiles are placed above the grid. For floor applications, BassBloc® sheets are laid directly on the concrete slab and covered with flooring material. MMT Acoustix provides full installation guidance and BOQ documentation with every Amsterdam order to ensure correct system specification and build sequence.
How long does delivery take to Amsterdam and what is the logistics process?+
Production and dispatch takes 7–10 business days. Aramex or DHL transit to Amsterdam takes 5–7 business days — total 12–14 business days door-to-door. For large project quantities (full truckload or LCL container shipments), professional logistics are arranged to Port of Rotterdam. All shipments include packing list, material data sheets, and ARAI/ASTM test certificates. Import duty in the UAE on acoustic insulation materials should be confirmed with your customs broker prior to ordering.
What is the lifespan of BassBloc® and does it need replacement?+
BassBloc® has a shelf life greater than a decade under normal building conditions. The compression method using resins and combined acoustic foams makes it highly durable — it keeps performing in multi-layer soundproofing wall and ceiling systems without settling (compressibility <1mm). Unlike mineral wool which can absorb moisture and sag over time, BassBloc® maintains its structural form and acoustic performance. It can be removed during renovations and recycled, making it the sustainable choice for Amsterdam's green-rated building projects.
