Mass Loaded Vinyl
Noise Barrier in Portugal
SoundBlanket® MLV — India's highest-density mass loaded vinyl soundproofing membrane. Engineered with a precision blend of PVC, EPDM rubber, and mineral compounds at 2000 kg/m³ density. Blocks airborne and impact noise through walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs. 2.5mm to 8mm. ASTM E84 Class A fire rated. Manufactured in Palwal, Haryana. Shipped to Portugal in 12–14 days via Aramex, DHL, and B2B logistics.
SoundBlanket® — 4 Thickness Options
Choose the right SoundBlanket® grade for your Portugal project. Each thickness delivers a different standalone STC rating — combine with BassBloc® for dramatically higher system STC.
The Science of Mass Loaded Vinyl
Sound travels through mass — the denser and heavier a material, the less sound passes through it. SoundBlanket® MLV is engineered specifically around this principle: at 2000 kg/m³, it is one of the densest flexible soundproofing membranes available. Unlike acoustic panels which absorb sound within a room, MLV is a barrier — it physically blocks sound from transmitting through a wall, floor, or ceiling.
At 2000 kg/m³ and 5–16 kg/m² surface mass, SoundBlanket® creates a limp-mass barrier that dissipates sound energy before it can transmit — effective across low, mid, and high frequencies.
Unlike rigid panels, SoundBlanket® bends around curved walls, corners, pipes, and irregular structures — ensuring zero gaps in coverage. Can be cut on-site with a utility knife.
Fire rated to ASTM E84 Class A — minimal flame spread and low smoke development — meeting Portuguese Building Code (RJUE) project specification fire safety requirements for commercial and residential projects.
Performs consistently across Portugal's extreme ambient temperatures — from air-conditioned server rooms to rooftop installations and mechanical plant rooms exposed to summer heat.
SoundBlanket® MLV targets low-frequency noise — traffic rumble, HVAC hum, bass — which standard acoustic panels cannot address. Combined with BassBloc®, it delivers complete broadband isolation.
Complete Soundproofing Systems — Tested STC Ratings
SoundBlanket® MLV is tested as part of complete system configurations per ASTM C423 and ASTM E90 at ARAI, Pune. The following systems are used across Portugal's residential, commercial, and hospitality projects. System STC ratings are significantly higher than standalone MLV performance.

Heavy-duty MLV 4mm + BassBloc 40mm wall systems for Portugal's entertainment venues — achieving 45–55dB sound attenuation, critical for licensing compliance and neighbour protection.
SoundBlanket® is the primary barrier layer in luxury home theatre builds on Palm Jumeirah and Emirates Hills — blocking bass from escaping into adjacent rooms and floors.
Guestroom-to-guestroom and floor-to-floor sound isolation for Portugal's five-star hotels. Installed in walls, floors, and ceilings during construction or retrofit without major structural changes.
MLV is the first layer in every professional studio wall system. Blocks low frequencies that acoustic panels cannot absorb — combined with BassBloc® for complete isolation in Portugal's Al Quoz studio district.
Speech privacy and confidentiality in Portugal's DIFC, Business Bay, and JLT offices. SoundBlanket® under gypsum partitions meets WELL Building Standard acoustic requirements for commercial occupancies.
Wrapped around PVC pipes, drainage lines, HVAC ducts, generators, and compressors. Absorbs flow noise and mechanical vibration — critical for premium hotels, healthcare, and industrial facilities in Portugal.
3-Step Installation — No Heavy Machinery
SoundBlanket® MLV installs without specialist equipment. Cut on-site with a utility knife. Conforms to curved walls, pipe surfaces, and irregular structures. Full guide included with every Portugal order.
Coat both the installation surface and the back of the SoundBlanket® membrane with Turbo® SR Adhesive. Allow to become tacky (3–5 minutes), then press the membrane firmly into place. For walls, start from the bottom and work upward. For floors, start from the centre outward.
Secure the membrane using nails or mechanical fasteners along all edges and corners for additional hold — especially important for wall and ceiling applications where gravity acts against adhesive bond. Space fasteners every 30cm along perimeter.
Overlap each sheet or roll by a minimum of 1cm at all joints to prevent sound flanking through gaps. Tape overlaps with butyl acoustic tape for airtight sealing. Once installed, cover with finish layer: gypsum, HDHMR, carpet, LVT, or Echsorbix® Felt Panels — depending on your system.
